Hearing Beyond the Audiogram™: Understanding the Listening Brain

COMING 2027 - DATE TBC - The audiogram tells us what a person can detect in quiet—but not how their brain makes sense of speech amid the noise, effort and complexity of everyday life. **Hearing Beyond the Audiogram™** connects auditory processing, cognition, attention, sensory experience and listening fatigue with practical clinical reasoning. Learn to investigate the gap between test results and lived experience, communicate uncertainty responsibly and create evidence-informed, person-centred recommendations that make a meaningful difference.

INSIDE THE PROGRAMME

Beyond Thresholds to Real-World Listening

Explore why pure-tone thresholds alone may not explain a person’s everyday listening difficulties. Connect peripheral hearing, speech-in-noise ability, auditory processing, attention, working memory and listening effort to reveal the fuller clinical picture.

From Test Results to Meaningful Action

Use hypothesis-led assessment and person-centred clinical reasoning to turn disconnected findings into a coherent formulation. Communicate uncertainty responsibly and develop practical, evidence-informed recommendations for home, work, education and healthcare.
